Tree Work

Formative Pruning

To prune a young tree to a desired shape suitable for its surroundings and free of weaknesses and defects when it reaches maturity.

Crown Thinning

To retain an even density of foliage throughout the crown which created a well spaced and balanced branch structure. Dead and selected branches are removed to enable more light through the crown which is aesthetically pleasing and also allows the tree to be more wind resistant. This does not alter the overall size of the tree.

Crown Lifting

Crown lifting a tree involves pruning/removing the lower branches to a desired height to gain vertical clearance from ground level, objects or other surfaces.

Crown Reduction and Reshaping

crown reducing a tree is used to create a desired appearance, make the tree better suited to its surroundings and to alleviate biomechanical stress and reduce sail area of the tree. All or parts of the canopy can be reduced, maintaining a natural crown shape.

Pollarding

Only few species of trees are suited to this type of work.

We carry this out when a trees size needs to be drastically reduced when it has outgrown its surroundings. It can be used to used to develop a tree into a specific form for aesthetic or practical purposes. The tree will look bare and will be drastically different in shape and size.

Deadwood Removal

The removal of dead branches within the crown is required for the majority of trees to prevent the failure of dead/dying branches.

Tree Felling

Tree felling is a last resort when the trees location/health is compromised.

If the trees location enables us, the tree can be straight felled and cut up from the ground and processed.

Tree Dismantling and Rigging

Trees where they cannot be straight felled need to be dismantled safely when the work space is available.

Trees in tight areas and often gardens which have no drop zone or there are obstacles underneath, we use a technique called rigging, we can safely lower all the limbs and timber to the ground in to the designated work area using rope systems and pulleys.

If there is no work zone under the tree but the access is good a crane can be used to safely lift sections of the tree and place them in a specific area to be processed.
